Visit the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle in Alsace, one of the most visited monuments in France!

Nestled in the heart of the Vosges forest, Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle dominates the famous Alsace Wine Route, which winds at its feet. For almost 900 years, the monument has stood the test of time as it has been destroyed and rebuilt time and time again.

The castle offers a remarkable vision of what a fortified castle was like in the Middle Ages. Today, it offers participative workshops, themed tours, sensory explorations, and events that allow visitors to discover the fortress from an unusual angle!

  • Know in advance:The site is surrounded by 150 free parking spaces and 6 spaces reserved for the disabled. From the car park, access to the castle is via a 300 m earth path with a slight uphill slope

  • The visit to the castle includes 300 steps of different heights and orientations. Numerous resting seats are available along the tour circuit

  • Free entrance for all visitors on the 1st Sunday of the month from November to March and during the "European Heritage Days" (3rd weekend of September)
