From the busy streets of Naples to the top of Italy’s most famous volcano, this full-day Vesuvius tour is an absolute must-see when visiting the region. Mount Vesuvius is known worldwide for its devastating eruption of 79 AD, which destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and still dominates the skyline to this day.

Following a late morning pickup from a centrally located meeting point, be whisked out of the city and enjoy a delicious lunch with the group before embarking on your mountain climb. Then, set off on the 500m hike to the summit. Once at the top, follow the trail around the impressive crater, enjoy spectacular views of the Bay of Naples to the east and west, and stare down into the depths of the slumbering volcano.

Remember: Even though Vesuvius is a dormant volcano, you are likely to see plumes of smoke rising from the crater. No need to worry though, it hasn’t erupted since 1950. Please be aware that a good level of fitness is required to make the climb and it is recommended that you take refreshments with you. There will be opportunities along the way to rest and recuperate before continuing on to the summit.
