The prime viewing season for the Ginkgo trees at Beijing Olympic Forest Park is typically from mid-to-late October to early November each year. During this period, the Ginkgo leaves turn golden yellow, creating a spectacular autumn landscape. Visitors can admire vast Ginkgo forests in both the South and North Parks, with the 'Ginkgo Avenue' in the South Park being a particularly popular spot for photos. The weather at this time is cool and pleasant, perfect for leisurely strolls amidst the fall foliage.
When visiting attractions in Beijing such as the Forbidden City and the Great Wall at Juyong Pass, it is recommended to use the 'Beijing Municipal Transport Card' or mobile payment options. The transport card can be purchased and topped up at subway stations or designated convenience stores and is valid for subways and buses. Additionally, WeChat Pay and Alipay are widely used in mainland China, accepted for almost all purchases and transportation, making them convenient payment choices. For subways, directly using your phone's NFC or scanning a QR code to buy tickets is also very convenient.
Taking the subway to major historical and cultural sites in Beijing, like the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, is very convenient. For the Forbidden City, you can take Subway Line 1 to Tiananmen East Station or Tiananmen West Station, and it's a short walk from there. For the Summer Palace, take Subway Line 4 to Beigongmen Station or Xiyuan Station, and it's just a few minutes' walk upon exiting. Beijing's subway network is extensive, covering most major areas of the city, and it's an efficient and economical way to visit various attractions.
For visiting attractions located further from Beijing's city center, such as the Great Wall at Juyong Pass, you can utilize the widely available ride-hailing app services. DiDi Chuxing (DiDi) is the primary ride-hailing platform in mainland China, offering various services like Express and Premier, with an interface similar to Uber. You can also opt for private car hire, which is especially convenient for distant suburban attractions like Juyong Pass. This allows for flexible scheduling and ensures a comfortable travel experience.
It is recommended to allocate at least half a day to a full day for visiting the Palace Museum (Forbidden City) to fully appreciate its grandeur. Must-see highlights include the magnificent architecture of the 'Hall of Supreme Harmony,' 'Hall of Central Harmony,' and 'Hall of Preserving Harmony.' Also essential are the 'Treasures Gallery' and the 'Clocks Gallery' which house valuable collections, as well as residential palaces like the 'Hall of Mental Cultivation' and 'Palace of Earthly Tranquility.' Visitors can enter through the Meridian Gate and follow the central axis, then explore palaces on the east and west sides to immerse themselves in the profound history.
The Great Wall at Juyong Pass is suitable for tourists who wish to experience the historical significance of the Great Wall without overly strenuous climbing. Compared to Badaling, Juyong Pass has fewer visitors and a more serene atmosphere. Its distinctive feature is its strategic location as the 'Most Impregnable Pass Under Heaven,' nestled between verdant mountains with fortifications built into the terrain. Additionally, within the pass, there are ancient relics such as the Cloud Platform and the Guan Di Temple, rich in cultural heritage. The climbing difficulty is moderate, making it ideal for families or first-time visitors to the Great Wall.

This activity allows visitors to connect with nature, enjoy rural pleasures, and savor freshly picked fruits.
