Nakasendo Trail

Nakasendo Trail is a route that connects Edo and Kyoto, where Samurai used to walk along this trail. It remains the views of ancient times and lets you to feel like you are going on a samurai journey, so hiking on Nakasendo trail is very popular among overseas tourists!
On the way of the trail, there are lots of sites which make you refresh. For example, Magome Pass, waterfalls and Ichikokutochi Tatebachaya for resting place, which changes its atmosphere depending on seasons.

Magome-juku, Tsumago-juku

Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku are well-preserved post towns along Nakasendo. Both have historical buildings give you vibes in Edo period. You can enjoy eating, shopping, or learning about the post towns there.
We reccomend you Goheimochi which is grilled mashed rice with sesame and various nuts, Oyaki which is dumpling for Nagano style and Kurikinton which is sweets made with chestnuts. These are known as unique local food in Gifu or Nagano prefecture.

Japanese culture experience

You will have a good experience of Japanese culture in this tour. Please choose one from three, Zazen, Shodo or Sado.
Zazen is the Japanese form of seated meditation, which allows you to calm your mind and also clear your thoughts. Zenshoji Temple offers you an instruction of zazen.
If you want to learn how to write your name with Japanese kanji characters, Shodo, the Japanese calligraphy is the best choice for you. The priest of Kofukuji gives you a guidance of shodo.
At Iouji Temple, you can enjoy the world of sado, the Japanese tea ceremony. The priest tells you how to make matcha and drink it properly.

If you want to change your schedule even on the tour day, your guide is always happy to help you.
You can skip the spot where you don't go (※in this case we do not refund any fees) or change it with another place.
If you add some new spots by your request, please pay the ticket fee on the spot. (Note that you may need to pay extra transportation fee)
Any admittion fee at Magomejuku and Tsumagojuku is not included.

  • No refunds will be issued in case the customer doesn't show up at the meeting spot on time.

  • We will full refund in case the tour is cancelled due to extreme situations such as typhoons and other natural disasters.

  • Please kindly manage your valuable belongings by yourself.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations 8 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
  • For cancellations made 3 to 7 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 30% will apply
  • For cancellations made 1 to 2 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 50% will apply
  • Cancellation is not allowed between 0–0 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
  • Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once the cancellation is confirmed, you will receive your refund within 14 working days.
