Did you know that Rottnest Island played an integral role in defending the coast of Perth during WWII? This 2-hour tour will take you on a journey back in time.
Enjoy a unique train ride to Oliver Hill Lookout. The area is still preserved with Rottnest’s WWII guns and tunnels, which commemorate its military history and our soldiers who fought to defend the shores of Western Australia. You are then guided through the Island’s huge 9.2-inch diameter guns and the tunnel system that forms part of Rottnest’s military heritage.
Explore the network of tunnels, dating back to the Second World War.

Please note that this is a physically demanding 45-minute tour with approximately 700 metres walking and 240+ uneven steps (equivalent to a 8-storey climb). There are no rest stops and no backtracking once inside.
No carrying of children is permitted except for small infants in baby carriers (which allow the accompanying adult to have both hands free for the railings in the tunnels). Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
The tour takes place in enclosed tunnels - please watch for low ceilings, uneven surfaces and other trip hazards - and follow guide instructions at all times.

We recommend arriving 60 mins prior to departure to allow sufficient time for boarding. Due to loading requirements, check-in will close 30 mins prior to departure and boarding will close 15 mins prior to departure. Rottnest Fast Ferries reserves the right to refuse boarding for passengers not complying with the above check-in and boarding times
A free parking lot is available near Hillarys Boat Harbor. Please note that park spaces are subject to on-site availability; the local agency will not be held liable for vehicle security
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations 4 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
- Cancellation is not allowed between 0–3 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
- Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
