Product Info

Nestled between the rugged peaks of the Maganik and Morača mountains, Mrtvica Canyon offers an unforgettable hiking experience through one of Montenegro’s most pristine natural landscapes. This guided tour takes you deep into a world of emerald waters, towering cliffs, and enchanting legends, providing a perfect escape for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Your journey begins in the quaint village of Međuriječje, approximately 40 km north of Podgorica. From here, you'll engage on a moderately challenging hike that winds through lush forests, along the crystal-clear Mrtvica River, and into the heart of the canyon.

Along the way, you'll encounter several highlights:

King Danilo’s Bridge: A 19th-century stone bridge built in honor of King Danilo II’s mother, offering picturesque views of the river below.

Gate of Wishes (Kapija Želja): A natural rock arch steeped in local legend. According to folklore, making a wish here with a pure heart may see it granted by the mountain fairy of Maganik.

Mrtvičke Grede (Beams of Mrtvica): An impressive path carved into the canyon wall by the Yugoslav army, providing thrilling views of the river below.

Bijeli Nerini Spring: A serene spot where you can rest and enjoy the tranquil sounds of nature.

The trail is approximately 12 km round trip, taking about 4 to 6 hours to complete, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make. The path is well-marked but can be rocky and uneven in places, so sturdy hiking shoes are recommended.
