Day 1
Arrival in Erbil (Kurdistan) and VIP transfer to the hotel. Meet the local team and receive assistance with check-in. Time to rest after the journey and get familiar with the city. Overnight in Erbil.
Day 2
Begin the day exploring the Erbil Citadel, the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the world, known in antiquity as Arbella. Visit the Textile Museum, showcasing traditional Kurdish crafts, costumes, and heritage. Walk through the historic Qaysari Bazaar and visit Sami Abdul Rahman Park, a significant memorial site. Stop at the iconic Choli Minaret, one of Erbil’s most recognizable landmarks. Free time in the afternoon. Overnight in Erbil.
Day 3
Depart Erbil toward Gaugamela, the site of the decisive battle between Alexander the Great and Darius III. Continue to the 4th-century St. Matthew’s Monastery, one of the most important Christian monasteries in the region. Visit Jirwan, home to the Assyrian aqueduct built by King Sennacherib. Proceed to Lalish, the sacred pilgrimage center of the Yezidi people. Transfer to Dohuk and overnight.
Day 4
Travel to Alqosh to visit the tomb of the Prophet Nahum and the historic Rabban Hormizd Monastery, carved into the mountains and central to the Chaldean Church. Time permitting, visit local cultural institutions and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. Return to Dohuk and overnight.
Day 5
Explore Zakho, an important historic trading town near the Turkish border, including its ancient Roman bridge and former Jewish quarter. Continue to the Assyrian reliefs of Khanis, part of the water system built for ancient Nineveh. Return to Dohuk and overnight.
Day 6
Depart for Amediye, an ancient mountain city dating back to the Assyrian era, dramatically located on a high plateau. Visit the historic Mosul Gate (Bab Zebar). Continue through the Barzan region, known for its natural beauty and historical significance. Overnight in the Barzan area.
Day 7
Drive through scenic mountain landscapes via Lake Dokan, the largest lake in Iraq, and along the historic Hamilton Road, a major engineering achievement of the 20th century. Stop at Bekhal Waterfall and continue toward Goizha Mountain for panoramic views over Sulaymaniyah. Overnight in Sulaymaniyah.
Day 8 –
Visit Amna Suraka (Red House), a former intelligence complex documenting human rights violations. Continue to Halabja, where chemical attacks took place in 1988. Visit the Halabja Memorial and Museum, reflecting the resilience of the Kurdish people. Return to Sulaymaniyah and overnight.
Day 9
Visit the Sulaymaniyah Museum of Antiquities, housing one of Kurdistan’s richest archaeological collections. Drive toward Erbil with stops at Zarzi / Qizqapan Cave, featuring prehistoric and Median-era remains, and the historic town of Koya, once an important stop on the Silk Road. Overnight in Erbil.
Day 10 – Departure
Transfer to Erbil International Airport for departure.
