Farm Tomita is renowned for its stunning lavender fields, especially in summer, alongside a wide variety of other seasonal flowers. It's famous for its diverse flower gardens, unique lavender-themed products, and picturesque views of the Tokachi mountain range. It offers a classic Furano experience with beautiful photo opportunities and a pleasant atmosphere.
Biei's Blue Pond (Aoiike) is known for its mystical, vivid blue color, which changes hue depending on the season and weather conditions due to natural minerals in the water. Submerged tree stumps enhance its ethereal beauty, making it a popular spot for photography. It offers a tranquil and unique natural landscape experience that is unlike any other.
The Shirahige Waterfall, also known as "White Beard Waterfall," is distinctive because its water cascades directly from cracks in the cliff face, resembling white beards. The falls flow into the Biei River, known for its cobalt blue water. It's particularly beautiful in winter when illuminated and surrounded by snow, creating a magical, frosty scene.
Biei's Patchwork Road offers picturesque rural landscapes with rolling hills, vast fields of crops, and scattered trees. The fields, planted with different crops like wheat, potatoes, and sunflowers, create a "patchwork" effect of varying colors and textures. It's a scenic drive perfect for enjoying the serene Hokkaido countryside and capturing iconic photos of the idyllic scenery.
The best time to visit Furano for its famous flower fields is typically from late June to early August. This period offers the most vibrant displays of lavender, which is at its peak in mid-July. Other seasonal flowers also bloom beautifully throughout the summer, creating colorful landscapes across the region, making it ideal for photography and sightseeing.
Biei's Blue Pond is captivating year-round, but it's particularly stunning in early summer (June-July) when the foliage is lush green and the water color is often at its most vibrant. It's also magical in winter when frozen and illuminated, offering a contrasting, serene beauty against the snow, providing a unique photo opportunity.
A bus tour from Sapporo significantly enhances the experience by providing hassle-free transportation, eliminating the need for self-driving or navigating complex public transport.
