Jongmyo Shrine
Jongmyo Shrine is a place where the ancestral tablets of successive monarchs of the Joseon Dynasty are enshrined and ancestral rites are performed. Built in 1394 by King Taejo (1335-1408), Yi Seong-gye, at the same time as Gyeongbokgung Palace in Hanyang, the new capital, along with the founding of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), it preserves its long traditions and customs, including the solemn rituals and ancestral music, and was registered as a World Cultural Heritage site in 1995.
Changdeokgung Palace
Changdeokgung Palace, which was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1997, is a palace built in 1405 as a detached palace of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the main palace. It served as the royal residence where the affairs of the Joseon Dynasty were conducted for approximately 270 years, starting with Gwanghaegun (1571-1641, the 15th king of the Joseon Dynasty). The entire site covers approximately 135,000 square meters and contains 13 palace buildings, with 28 pavilions in the rear garden, which occupies the northern half of the site. The charm of Changdeokgung Palace lies in its beautiful palace gardens, which were created by making the most of the rich natural environment, and the changing scenery of the rear garden throughout the seasons is truly impressive.
・Chima Jeogori experience
What is commonly called "chima jeogori" refers to the chima (skirt) and jeogori (jacket), and in Korea it is called "hanbok." When worn by men, it is sometimes called paji (trousers) and jeogori (jacket). The history of hanbok has been passed down for 1600 years, and in recent years, improved and more elaborate hanbok have become popular among the younger generation. The atmosphere changes dramatically depending on the harmony of the colors of the trousers and jacket, and the length of the jacket, allowing you to enjoy a variety of combinations.
・Seoseungra-gil
Seoseungra-gil is especially beautiful in spring and autumn. It was named "Seoseungra-gil" (Western Patrol Road) because it is located west of the Seungra (Patrol Office), which was responsible for patrolling the area around Jongmyo Shrine. Nearby are popular traditional tourist areas such as Ikseon-dong, Insadong, Bukchon, and Samcheong-dong, and Seoseungra-gil is full of attractions such as restaurants, cafes, and workshops. The stone walls are especially beautiful in spring when the flowers are in bloom and in autumn when the leaves change color, attracting many visitors.
