Product Info
Explore nine levels of Poland's extraordinary Wieliczka Salt Mine on a half-day tour from Krakow, and discover more than 3 kilometers of tunnels, art galleries, altars, and statues sculpted in salt.
Located approximately 13 kilometers (8 miles) southeast of Krakow, the 13th-century Wieliczka Salt Mine is the result of tens of generations of miners. It's a monument to the history of Poland and to the Polish nation. Following your transfer from the city center, descend underground and walk through the extensive chambers chiseled out of rock salt.
Marvel at saline lakes and majestic timber constructions, along with a collection of mining machines and equipment. Admire unique statues sculpted in salt. By the 15th century the mine was regarded as a cultural and geological phenomenon. It features about 3,000 chambers over nine separate floors.
A highlight of your tour will be the Chapel of the Blessed Kinga, where you will discover a subterranean church richly decorated with chandeliers, sculptures and religious figures carved entirely from salt.
