The fireworks display will be very crowded, so please be sure to follow the leader's instructions and do not be late.
Due to limited space in the luggage compartments, each person is limited to one large suitcase on board. Please be aware of this.
There will be free time before the fireworks display begins. You can visit the nearby night market to buy local food. In summer, it is recommended to prepare for sun protection and bring insect repellent.
On the day of the fireworks display, the venue is expected to be packed with hundreds of thousands of people. There is a high chance that network equipment may be unusable. We appreciate your understanding.
Although the ground at the fireworks venue will be covered with plastic mats, they may not be very comfortable to sit on. If needed, you may bring your own cushions. Please note that folding chairs, simple chairs, tripods, and other similar items are strictly prohibited from being brought into the venue.
It generally takes about 10 minutes to walk from the venue to the viewing area. You will need to wait on-site before the fireworks begin. ※In case of crowds, it may take approximately 30-40 minutes to walk from the parking lot to your viewing area.
We recommend bringing sun protection items such as umbrellas, hats, towels, water bottles, and flashlights; there are no shades or shelters at the venue, and lighting is insufficient around the parking lot and restrooms. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes for easy movement on the day of the fireworks display. Umbrellas are prohibited inside the venue; we suggest bringing a lightweight raincoat.
The itinerary prioritizes arriving on time for the fireworks display start time, and the time spent at each attraction may be adjusted accordingly. Please note that no refunds will be given if you are unable to arrive at the fireworks display start time due to road delays.
The bus and restaurant seats used during the experience tour may involve sharing a table or seat with other members of the tour group, depending on the tour leader and facility arrangements on the day. Please understand that bus seats are subject to on-site allocation and cannot be specified.
The hot spring tour is an optional experience at your own expense. If you do not wish to participate, you may rest on the bus.
The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival is an annual summer event, renowned as one of Japan's three great fireworks festivals. It is typically held on August 2nd and 3rd. This spectacular event offers a grand-scale visual feast, attracting visitors to experience its unique displays and festive atmosphere.
For the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival, the best viewing experience involves finding a location with an unobstructed view of the Shinano River, where the fireworks are launched. Designated viewing areas offer excellent perspectives. It's advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot, especially if you don't have reserved seating. The festival is known for its massive fireworks, including the "Phoenix" display, which requires a wide panoramic view to appreciate its scale.
Tickets for the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival's designated seating areas are highly sought after and often sell out quickly. You can pre-purchase tickets through various online platforms. Booking through KKday offers a convenient way to secure your spot for the festival, ensuring you have a reserved seat to enjoy the spectacular displays without the hassle of finding a viewing spot on arrival. This also often includes other tour elements like transportation and meals, simplifying your travel plans.
The main fireworks display at the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival typically lasts for approximately two hours each evening. During this time, a continuous sequence of large-scale fireworks, including unique and impressive displays like the "Phoenix" and Niagara Falls fireworks, captivates spectators. The event provides a concentrated and immersive viewing experience.
The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival holds significant historical meaning, originating as a memorial event to commemorate the victims of the 1945 Nagaoka air raid during World War II. It also serves as a prayer for peace and reconstruction for the city. This solemn yet beautiful tradition has evolved into one of Japan's most spectacular summer celebrations, blending remembrance with hope and artistic expression through fireworks.
Reaching the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival from Tokyo typically involves taking the Joetsu Shinkansen to Nagaoka Station, followed by local transportation. However, this day trip offers a convenient solution with private chartered transportation directly from Tokyo (Ueno/Shinjuku). This eliminates the need to plan complex train transfers or worry about crowded public transport, providing a stress-free and comfortable journey to and from the festival.
During the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival day trip, you'll have the opportunity to savor local gourmet food, specifically Mizusawa Udon. This is one of Japan's three great udon varieties, known for its smooth texture and distinct flavor. This culinary experience is designed to immerse you in the local culture and provide a delightful meal as part of your overall festival experience.
The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival tour includes a relaxing hot spring bathing experience. This allows you to unwind and soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters, experiencing a traditional aspect of Japanese culture. It's a perfect way to relax and rejuvenate before or after the excitement of the fireworks display, adding a unique dimension to your summer day trip.
