Product Info

  • MASHOKU is a bodywork practice that explores the 'ma' (space/interval) through physical touch. Rooted in the elements of martial arts and contact improvisation, it does not aim for conflict or manipulation, but rather values the movements and sensations that arise within a relationship. It is a space for improvisational physical dialogue centered on tactile sensation, neither dance nor martial arts. Each session begins with breathing, quietly observing the current state of mind and body. Next, through standing and learning how to entrust weight, we cultivate a resilient and secure physical foundation. From there, we engage in light touch and weight-sharing, treating touch not as a 'means to move' but as an 'entry point for sensing.' In MASHOKU, the goal is not to move skillfully or look beautiful. We accept the tension and hesitation that arise upon contact, listening closely to the sense of distance and shifts in the center of gravity with our partner. The movements that emerge are not predetermined forms, but arise naturally from the relationship of that moment. Experience, age, and physical ability do not matter. For those with martial arts experience, it is a lesson in 'letting go of technique,' while for those with dance or performance backgrounds, it is a place to deepen 'safe and trusting improvisation.' Even those who feel uneasy about physical contact can participate with peace of mind, as we proceed in stages. MASHOKU is not a place to try to change your partner. It is a quiet, open time to respect what happens in the 'space between' yourself and another, and to savor the relationship itself.
  • BUZEN
  • BUZEN is an introspection and breathing practice based on the physical perspective of martial arts. It emphasizes refining one's 'presence' before moving, quietly observing the state of mind and body through breath. Rather than exerting force, we notice tension and habits, letting go of unnecessary effort to cultivate a resilient and calm body. While it is a form of martial arts training, it is also a time for Japanese-style physical tuning that connects to meditation and self-care.
  • Natural Training
  • Natural Training is a bodywork practice designed to awaken the natural movements inherent in the human body. Unbound by fixed forms or repetition counts, we regain the connection of the entire body through basic movements such as rolling, crawling, standing, and walking. Rather than training for strength, the goal is to develop a 'body that can be used without strain,' making it accessible to anyone regardless of age or exercise experience. It cultivates the wildness and suppleness that form the foundation for both martial arts and daily life.
  • C.I
  • C.I is a practice that explores improvisational movement born through physical contact. It does not aim to manipulate the partner or create fixed shapes, but moves while sharing sensations such as weight, flow, and timing. By grounding the practice in martial arts-based safety and the sense of 'receiving,' a relationship of mutual trust and surrender is fostered. It is an experience where 'the relationship itself becomes the movement,' neither dance nor martial arts.
