It's renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, white sandy beach, and dramatic limestone cliffs that enclose it, making it a prominent feature of the region.

2. Why is Maya Bay famous among travelers worldwide?

Maya Bay gained global fame as the filming location for Leonardo DiCaprio's movie "The Beach." Its unparalleled natural beauty, including pristine white sands, vibrant marine life, and towering limestone karsts, has made it an iconic destination. Visitors are drawn to its picturesque tropical scenery and the sense of a secluded, beautiful paradise.

3. What are the current visitor rules and permitted activities at Maya Bay?

To protect its fragile ecosystem, visitors are currently permitted to visit Maya Bay's beach, but swimming directly in the bay is prohibited. Boats must moor at a designated pier behind the island. Permitted activities include walking on the pristine beach, enjoying the scenic views, and photography from the shoreline. Strict regulations are enforced to ensure minimal environmental impact and promote ecological recovery.

4. What conservation efforts are in place to protect Maya Bay's marine environment?

Maya Bay has undergone extensive rehabilitation, including a multi-year closure to allow its ecosystem to recover. Current efforts involve strictly limiting daily visitor numbers, prohibiting swimming in the bay, using designated mooring areas for boats, and extensive coral replanting projects. These comprehensive measures are crucial for restoring and preserving the bay's natural beauty and marine biodiversity for future generations.

During a typical half-day speedboat tour, visitors usually spend approximately one hour at Maya Bay.
