DAY 1
8:30 am Pick-up in Neiva at the designated location, bound for the La Gaitana cruise port
The experience begins by boarding a boat to start a journey of approximately 3 hours along the Magdalena River towards Villavieja
During the cruise, you'll enjoy the scenery, observe the flora and fauna of the riverside ecosystem, go bird watching, take photographs, and contemplate the landscape from a completely different perspective.
Upon arrival in Villavieja, it will be time to discover Huila by savoring its flavors. We'll enjoy a typical regional lunch, which may include traditional fish dishes such as bocachico or tilapia, accompanied by products and flavors typical of our region.
Then we'll take a cultural tour of Villavieja, a municipality full of history and tradition. We'll walk through its streets and learn about part of its history, its culture, and the relationship that has existed for generations between its inhabitants, the Magdalena River, and the desert territory.
In the late afternoon, we'll enter the Tatacoa Desert. It will be time to slow down, watch how the light changes over the landscape, and enjoy one of the most special moments of the trip:
the sunset in the middle of the desert.
We'll enjoy a day of astronomical observation, discovering stars, planets, and constellations under the skies of the Tatacoa.
One night in the area
To end the first day, you can choose the type of accommodation that best suits your way of traveling:
Desert inn for those looking for a more authentic experience, close to the natural environment.
Hotel in Villavieja for those who prefer more comfort without going far from the Tatacoa.
DAY 2
Sunrise · Hidden Tatacoa · Gray and Red Desert
Before the first rays of sunshine appear, we'll start our second day.
5:15 a.m. We'll head out into the desert to experience one of the most special moments: watching the Tatacoa, nature, and the sunrise awaken.
Breakfast in Tatacoa
The Gray Tatacoa
We'll continue our adventure to some of the lesser-known landscapes of the Tatacoa.
We'll explore the gray zone and areas such as Xilópalos, discovering trails and natural formations that allow us to see a different side of the desert.
This part of the experience is designed especially for those who enjoy nature, hiking, photography, and places that are off the beaten track.
Ochre Tatacoa
The journey continues to one of the most iconic landscapes of Huila: the ocher or reddish area of the Tatacoa Desert.
We'll walk among its unique natural formations and discover how water, wind, and the passage of time have shaped this extraordinary territory, and we'll have time to take unforgettable photographs.
After exploring the Tatacoa, we'll enjoy our lunch before beginning the drop-off journey back to Neiva at around 2:00 p.m.
