Product Info

Begin your journey at the world’s first-ever mechanically drilled oil well, located in the Bibi-Heybat settlement. Learn about the well's history and how it produced the first gush of oil in 1847. See how the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) completed the reconstruction of this first oil well in 2017.

Next, visit the Bibi Heybat Mosque, one of the country's most historic and religiously significant buildings. Admire the mosque's unique green dome and towering minaret, which have become part of the Baku skyline. Feel the strong religious atmosphere and appreciate the exquisite architectural art.

Continue to the mud volcanoes, located mainly around Gobustan. Enjoy 4x4 off-road car driving and see these unique geological formations that eject cold, bubbling mud, gas, and water instead of hot lava due to deep tectonic pressure.

Then, head to the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, which covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan. See an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.

Next, visit Yanar Dag, the "Burning Mountain," a natural gas fire that burns continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula. See flames up to 3 meters high shoot steadily from a porous sandstone layer without ever going out.

Finally, explore the Ateshgah Fire Temple, a captivating piece of ancient architecture and history. Learn about its historical roots, which stretch back to the era of Zoroastrianism's reign.
