Experience the night sky filled with soft, glowing lights at this sky lantern event held on Saturday, December 19, 2026, at the Daio Shinyo Omachi Multipurpose Plaza in Kochi.

The 'Sky Lantern Project with Japan Material Koshien' is held in conjunction with the Japan Material Koshien, an event showcasing the charm of local ingredients and regional resources from across Japan. Participants can release lanterns filled with their wishes and dreams, creating a magical scene to enjoy with family, friends, and partners.

The lanterns are safe, LED-powered, and tethered with strings, so no fire is involved. The launch is scheduled for 18:30. While admission and viewing are free, this ticket is required to participate in the lantern launch.

  • While admission and viewing are free, a ticket is required to participate in the lantern launch.

  • The lanterns are LED-based and do not use fire. Please do not cut the strings and follow staff instructions for launching and retrieving them.
  • The lantern launch is scheduled for 18:30. Late arrivals may not be able to participate.
  • Minors and children must be accompanied by a guardian and should be supervised at all times within the venue.
  • The event may be changed or cancelled due to weather, strong winds, or other safety concerns. Please check the official website for the latest updates.
  • To help reduce congestion, please use public transportation whenever possible.
  • Cancellations or changes by the customer after purchase are not permitted.
  • The event may be cancelled in the event of severe weather such as strong winds, heavy rain, or lightning.
  • Decisions regarding cancellation due to strong winds may be made just before the event starts.
