The canals – or klongs – in the historic Thonburi district are heaving with locals in the afternoon. You'll drift slowly along the Chao Phraya River so you can take in the sights as well as lush vegetation long-gone from the centre.

After the cruise, you'll dock near Wat Arun to visit this impressive temple. The porcelain encrusted Khmer-style central prang is, at 80 metres, one of the most famous landmarks in the Bangkok skyline. You'll can stroll the grounds, admiring the vast yakshas – temple guardian statues – and the frescoed and flower-filled prayer halls.
