Escape Italy's busy capital for one day on this trip to Assisi and the Umbrian hill town of Orvieto starting from Rome. On this tour, you'll unveil the religious architecture of Umbria and discover the wines and local products of Umbria and Tuscany.

Leaving Rome and driving along the Tiber Valley, you'll reach Orvieto as your first stop, a small town of Etruscan origins where you'll admire the magnificent 14th-century cathedral, a masterpiece of gothic architecture. The tour continues through the green Tuscan Hills covered in olive groves and vineyards. This is the land of some of Italy's best-known DOC (quality controlled) wines, like Orvieto, Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino.

Enjoy a traditional Umbrian and Tuscan lunch, which is included in your experience.

In the early afternoon, you'll continue your journey along the shores of Lake Trasimeno. Finally, reach Assisi, which is located at the foot of Mount Subasio. Assisi is famous for being St. Francis' birthplace. You'll see the Church of St. Claire, St Francis' birthplace, his childhood home and the Townhall square. One highlight of the tour will be the visit of St Francis' Basilica, located close to the ancient city walls, with its magnificent frescoes painted between the 12th and 14th centuries. Another important place you'll visit is the church of Santa Maria Maggiore or Sanctuary of the Stripping, where the body of San Carlo Acutis (beatified on October 10, 2020) is located.
