Product Info

-What you can expect-
The adventure starts with a 90-minutes speedboat ride to Biševo Island, heading towards the Blue Cave. Originally, the Blue Cave was only accessible by diving, but since 1884, a narrow passage has been created that allows access by small boats when the sea is calm. On Biševo Island, you'll also see the Monk Seal Cave—the longest cave on Biševo, once the home of monk seals.

The journey continues to the fishermen’s village of Komiža, on Vis Island. Stroll through its narrow streets, pebble beaches, or have a coffee on the promenade. You can also visit the Fishermen’s Museum, featuring traditional fishing tools. As you cruise around the southern side of Vis, you'll make a swimming stop at Stiniva Cove, a magical cove surrounded by two high cliffs. Following this, enjoy a one-hour stop at the Blue Lagoon. Its shallow waters and sandy beach make it a perfect spot for swimming and indulging in some refreshments at a coffee bar or a restaurant.

Next, you'll pass by the Pakleni Islands, where you can take amazing pictures from the boat. Your last stop is the town of Hvar on Hvar Island, where you'll have free time to explore its harbour and have lunch. Discover the old town, the promenade, Arsenal, the Cathedral of Saint Stephen, Bishop’s palace and take a short walk to the fortress Španjola, where you can take in panoramic views over Pakleni Islands and the old town.

FAQ

1. Is visiting Croatia's Blue Cave a worthwhile experience?

The Blue Cave is renowned for its mesmerizing natural light effects, where sunlight refracts through an underwater opening, illuminating the cave's interior with a stunning blue glow. This unique visual spectacle creates an ethereal atmosphere that many visitors find truly unforgettable, making it a highly recommended natural wonder in Croatia for its distinct beauty.

2. What specific activities or experiences can visitors enjoy inside the Blue Cave?

Visitors typically enter the Blue Cave in small boats, carefully navigating through a narrow opening. Once inside, the main activity is to witness the natural light show, as sunlight pierces the water, reflecting a brilliant iridescent blue throughout the cave. Guests usually spend about 10-15 minutes marveling at this unique phenomenon, offering a serene and visually captivating experience.

3. What makes the Blue Cave a unique natural phenomenon in Croatia?

The Blue Cave's uniqueness stems from its rare geological formation and specific light conditions. Sunlight enters through a submarine opening, is reflected by the white limestone floor, and then penetrates the water, creating an intense blue illumination. This natural interplay of light and water turns the cave into a magical, glowing chamber, a sight found in very few places globally.

4. What are the visual highlights of the Blue Cave and how can one best capture them in photos?

The primary visual highlight is the intense electric blue luminescence of the water and cave walls. To best capture this, use a camera with good low-light capabilities. Avoid flash, as it detracts from the natural light. Focus on the contrasting dark and light areas and the mesmerizing reflections on the water's surface to convey the cave's unique ambiance.
