The Sanxingdui Museum, located near Chengdu, is a national-level museum dedicated to ancient Shu civilization, recognized as one of the 20th century's greatest archaeological discoveries. It displays over a thousand breathtaking artifacts, including the 3.96-meter Bronze Sacred Tree, the 2.62-meter Bronze Standing Figure, and exquisite gold masks. These treasures offer unparalleled insights into a mysterious civilization that flourished over 3,000 years ago, showcasing unique artistic, cultural, and spiritual beliefs distinct from other ancient Chinese cultures. The name "Sanxingdui" (三星堆) translates to "Three-Star Piles" and refers to three distinctive earthen mounds found at the archaeological site. These mounds, along with a crescent-shaped feature known as Moon Bay, were thought by locals to resemble three stars chasing the moon. This geographical characteristic gave the site its name and became synonymous with the mysterious ancient Shu civilization it represents. The name itself reflects the distinctive landscape where this profound cultural discovery was made.
Entrance tickets for the Sanxingdui Museum are generally required for entry. It is highly advisable to obtain your tickets in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, to ensure availability and streamline your visit. For convenience, travelers can book through platforms like KKday, where the museum entrance fees are often included as part of a comprehensive tour package. This simplifies the planning process, guarantees your entry, and ensures a seamless experience as part of your overall itinerary.

During this period, the surrounding forests burst into vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow, creating a stunning contrast with the crystal-clear turquoise lakes. Spring offers blooming flowers, summer provides a lush green escape, and winter transforms the landscape into a snowy wonderland with frozen waterfalls, each offering a distinct photographic and immersive experience.
The altitude in Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area varies, with the lowest points around 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) and some higher areas, like Long Lake, reaching over 3,100 meters (10,170 feet).
