Product Info

Leave Edinburgh and travel west through Scotland’s rich historic landscape, passing Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. As you journey onward, you’ll encounter the striking Kelpies Monument -two towering horse-head sculptures that celebrate the horsepower heritage which fuelled Scotland’s industrial past.

Continuing west, you arrive at the shores of Loch Lomond, the largest loch in Scotland and part of the country’s first National Park. Here, you stop at the charming village of Balmaha, the perfect place to stretch your legs along the “bonny banks.” Take in panoramic views across the water to the surrounding mountains and enjoy a peaceful walk through an area once associated with the legendary Highland outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor.

The journey then leads you into the Trossachs, often described as “the Highlands in Miniature.” This breathtaking region blends rugged peaks, shimmering lochs and dense forests, offering a true taste of Scotland’s natural beauty. You’ll stop in the village of Aberfoyle, where you can relax and enjoy lunch surrounded by scenery that inspired the writings of Sir Walter Scott.

In the afternoon, you travel to the historic city of Stirling, a place that played a pivotal role in shaping Scotland’s past. Towering above the city is Stirling Castle, one of the country’s grandest and most significant fortresses.

To make the most of your time in Stirling, we strongly recommend choosing the added admission to Stirling Castle. Including entry in advance gives you fast-track access to the full experience, with access to the beautifully restored royal apartments, grand halls and fascinating exhibitions that bring Scotland’s history vividly to life.

If you prefer, you can instead spend your free time exploring Stirling town, with its historic streets, independent shops and welcoming cafés. However, for those wanting the richest and most memorable visit, castle entry is the best way to experience this iconic destination.

As the day comes to an end, you begin your return to Edinburgh, passing once more through Scotland’s scenic landscapes and reflecting on a journey filled with history, legends and unforgettable views.
