Discover the monasteries of Meteora on a full-day tour from Athens. Enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside, visit the monasteries, and see the Battlefield of Thermopylae.

Start your tour with a scenic drive through the countryside, where you will enjoy amazing views of the landscape, passing by picturesque traditional Greek villages. After around 4 hours of driving, reach the village of Kalambaka.

Start your visit to the monasteries by taking a closer look at the holy rocks. On the rocks that are like suspended in the air (that’s what Meteora means), there is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox Monasteries still in use.

Meteora combines natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a unique destination between the world’s monuments. Have a panoramic tour, where you will see all the monasteries from outside, having many photo stops at the best places and visit 2-3 monasteries of your choice.

After lunch in Kalambaka, start heading back to Athens. On the way back, stop at the Battlefield of Thermopylae. In the historical center of the site, enjoy a 3D movie, traveling through the time you will feel the presence of all who died for their freedom under a foreign conqueror.

To complete the visit, see the Statue of Leonidas standing right opposite Kolonos Hill where the persisting Spartans left their last breath. After that, drive back to Athens.
