Product Info

I am Natalia Stroppiana, an Italian-Greek archaeologist and tour guide. I spend half the year in Olympia and half the year in Monforte d'Alba (CN).

The archaeological site of Olympia is one of the most fascinating places in ancient Greece, a veritable treasure trove of history and culture that enchants visitors from all over the world. This is where the famous sacred area dedicated to Zeus and other deities developed, becoming the center of the Olympic Games, an event that united Greek cities in a celebration of competition, art, and spirituality.

In Olympia, the imposing ruins of temples and public buildings bear witness to the architectural mastery and deep devotion of the ancient Greeks. Among the most important monuments are the Temple of Zeus, where the colossal statue created by Phidias, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, once stood, and the Temple of Hera, where the Olympic torch is lit in modern times, a ritual that recalls the tradition and cultural heritage of this extraordinary site.

Walking among the remains of sacred and civil structures, you can feel the vibrant atmosphere of an era when the cult of competition and excellence was at the heart of Greek society. The training areas, where athletes prepared for grueling physical challenges, offer a privileged glimpse into a culture that celebrated the human body and spirit. The heart of Olympia is undoubtedly the Olympic Stadium, the first in the world, where ancient athletes competed to honor their city and the gods. Today, visitors can relive that unique atmosphere by trying their hand at running, following in the footsteps of the great champions of the past and rediscovering the authentic thrill of competition.

Every stone, column, and fragment of sculpture in Olympia tells stories of honor, sacrifice, and passion, elements that forged the identity of the ancient Greeks and transmitted universal values that are still a source of inspiration today. Olympia is a symbol of unity and peace: during the Olympic Games, the Greek city-states suspended their rivalries to participate in an event that celebrated harmony and collaboration. This spirit of unity, capable of overcoming conflict and division, continues to inspire sporting and cultural events around the world.

Visiting the archaeological site of Olympia means embarking on a journey through time, where every corner bears witness to the grandeur of a civilization that has left an indelible mark on the history of humanity. This is not just a tourist itinerary, but an experience that invites you to discover a cultural and spiritual heritage capable of connecting the past with the present and inspiring future generations.

The guided visit lasts about an hour and a half. The meeting point is in front of the ticket office of the archaeological site.
