Maruyama Park in Sapporo is renowned for its magnificent cherry blossoms, especially during spring, making it a prime viewing spot. Visitors can enjoy walking through pathways lined with blooming trees and combine their visit with a trip to the adjacent Hokkaido Shrine for worship and further appreciation of the floral beauty.
Maruyama Park itself is a public park, and there is typically no direct entrance fee to access its grounds or the adjacent Hokkaido Shrine. The cost associated with a tour usually covers transportation, guide services, and other inclusions, allowing you to enjoy these sites without additional entry charges for the individual locations.
Maruyama Park is highly popular in Sapporo primarily for its stunning cherry blossoms, which attract numerous visitors during spring. Its appeal is enhanced by the serene atmosphere, green spaces, and the presence of Hokkaido Shrine, offering both natural beauty and cultural experiences. The park provides a peaceful escape within the city.
Within Nakajima Park, visitors have the opportunity to pray at three distinct shrines: Gokoku Shrine, Taga Shrine, and Yahiko Shrine. Beyond the spiritual experience, Nakajima Park is also celebrated for its beautiful cherry blossoms, providing a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls amidst nature.
Visiting seven shrines on this tour, including Nishino Shrine and Kotoni Shrine, is often associated with seeking good fortune and spiritual blessings. This pilgrimage-style journey allows participants to experience a deeper cultural connection and personal reflection, complemented by the beauty of cherry blossoms at each sacred location.
Traveling by bus significantly enhances the experience by allowing for efficient and comfortable visits to multiple shrines and parks, such as Atsubetsu Shrine. This method saves time and effort, removing the need for personal navigation or public transport transfers, ensuring a smooth and relaxed journey between various scenic and cultural sites.
The best time to experience the cherry blossoms at Maruyama Park and Nakajima Park during this tour is typically during the peak spring blooming season. While exact dates can vary each year, late April to early May is generally when these parks are adorned with their full array of beautiful cherry blossoms, offering stunning natural scenery.
During the tour, which includes visits to Hokkaido Shrine and other destinations, a Sukeroku-style bento box is provided. This traditional Japanese meal typically consists of various bite-sized sushi rolls and inarizushi (rice-filled tofu pockets), offering a convenient and delightful dining experience amidst your sightseeing.
