~Marutto Kyoto Project~

Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City are promoting the "Another Kyoto" (※1) and "Special Kyoto" projects (※2).
By promoting the attractions of the various areas spread across Kyoto in a unified manner and working together to promote tourism in each area, we will create a synergistic effect.
We are working to revitalize the region and decentralize tourist destinations.

In the midst of this, Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City have jointly launched the "Marutto Kyoto Project" to promote tourism in the area!
The "Marutto Kyoto Project" will take you to many areas that are difficult to reach on your own!

"All of Kyoto" is a catchphrase that incorporates the following three meanings:

(1) "〇 (maru:means circle)" means "Kyoto is wonderful"
(2) "〇 Circle" in the sense of going around in circles
(3) 〇(maru) The circle represents the desire to see the whole of Kyoto.

*1 Four areas: Seaside Kyoto, Forest Kyoto, Tea Kyoto, and Bamboo Village/Otokuni

*2 Six areas: Fushimi, Ohara, Takao, Yamashina, Saikyo, and Keihoku

*Customers participating in courses covered by this project are asked to fill out a questionnaire about this project.

~Tours participating in the Marutto Kyoto Project come with souvenirs subsidized by Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City!~
On this tour, we will hand over souvenirs at "Woody Keihoku Roadside Station."

*Souvenirs are provided with subsidies from Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City.

○Miyama Kayabuki No Sato

There are many thatched roof houses remaining in the town of Miyama Kayabuki No Sato, among which, in the "Kita" settlement, 39 of the 50 houses have thatched roofs.
The city is also highly regarded for the degree to which its historical landscape, including buildings built using traditional techniques, has been preserved.
In December 1993, the area was designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government.
It has become popular as a place where one can encounter the original Japanese landscape, and is visited by many tourists throughout the year.
80% of the houses in Kayabuki-no-Sato village have thatched roofs, and in autumn the roofs are dyed red with autumn leaves.

What is Miyama Kayabuki-no-Sato Yuki Toro? (Period: January 25th to February 1st, 2025)

Located about 80 minutes by car from Kyoto city, Miyama Kayabuki No Sato is a place where traditional Japanese scenery remains.
Every winter, more than 1 meter of snow accumulates, making Miyama's winters harsh and resulting in few tourists.
In this climate, this event was started by the local villagers with the desire to welcome guests who came to visit in the winter with the light of lanterns made from snow.
Now, alley lanterns and LED lanterns have been added, enveloping Kayabuki Village in a fantastical light at night.
The Miyama Kayabuki-no-Sato Snow Lantern Festival is an event where a beautiful landscape is created by snow lanterns made by visitors, local residents, and event supporters from urban areas.

They also sell bento boxes, mackerel sushi, sushi rolls, and bread.
As the birthplace of natto, the local specialty 【natto mochi】 is also sold here.
