Today, it stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its exceptional testimony to the forced migration of convicts and the architectural and archaeological remains of its well-preserved penal establishments. 2. What is the historical significance of the Tasman Peninsula in Tasmania?

The Tasman Peninsula holds significant historical importance, primarily as the location of the Port Arthur penal settlement. Its unique geography, connected by the narrow Eaglehawk Neck, made it a natural prison, effectively isolating convicts.
