Formerly known as Wudun and Qingdun, it has a long history of over 6,000 years. Wuzhen is a typical Jiangnan water town, known as the 'Land of Fish and Rice, Home of Silk'.

The Foot-Binding Culture Museum is located in the West Scenic Zone of Wuzhen and is a rare historical museum themed around foot-binding. It exhibits various types of small shoes and foot-binding tools from across the country, accompanied by authentic historical photos and detailed descriptions, unfolding a bloody history of Chinese women suffering under the constraints of distorted beauty. Visiting this museum helps us understand history, remember the inhumane oppression of women by feudal forces, realize the significant meaning of modern revolutionary liberation, and inspire people to fight tirelessly for gender equality.
The Jiangnan Hundred Bed Museum is located in the East Scenic Zone of Wuzhen. It is a museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting ancient Jiangnan beds. It currently houses many representative ancient beds from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the modern era, such as the Ming dynasty horseshoe-footed brush-style canopy bed, the lady's bed, and the arhat bed.
You must try the stinky tofu in Wuzhen. It has a unique flavor, made by soaking high-quality dried tofu for over 20 hours, and is available both deep-fried and steamed. The local stinky tofu is very substantial, with each piece being quite dense, making it easy to get full.
Gusao cakes are very popular in the Jiangnan region. They are slightly larger than a chess piece, salty yet sweet, oily and fragrant, with a crumbly, glutinous texture that is perfectly balanced. They come in various flavors such as sesame, scallion, peanut, and chrysanthemum.
