- The statue known as the "Great Buddha of Nara" is enshrined at Todaiji Temple. This temple was built by Emperor Shomu during the Nara period to protect his faith and the country. The Great Buddha is enshrined in the Great Buddha Hall, a wooden structure that is approximately 15 meters high and weighs approximately 250 tons. The pedestal alone is huge, measuring approximately 3m in height, 60m in width from side to side, and 50m in depth. When I look up at its majestic figure, I am once again impressed by its presence.
- Speaking of Nara, the second most famous thing after the Great Buddha is the deer. In Nara Prefecture, they are cherished as messengers of the gods.
