【Notes for Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route】
Clothing:
In July and August, temperatures range from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, making it a comfortable summer resort. While short sleeves and shorts are suitable at lower elevations, the mountain sun can be intense, so it's advisable to wear clothes that cover the skin (breathable fabric). Although it may be hot and sunny in the morning during the summer, fog may appear or a sudden rain shower may occur in the afternoon, causing temperatures to drop rapidly. While the walking trails are well-maintained and easy to walk on, there are uphill and downhill sections, so wearing sandals may lead to blisters.
September to October is the autumn foliage season. Temperatures are around 10 degrees Celsius, and it may feel chilly. By October, snowflakes may start to fall around 2,500 meters above sea level (around Murodo). Thick woolen long-sleeved shirts or fleece clothing are recommended.
Useful items:
Since the sun can be strong, especially with intense reflection from the snow, it's advisable to take sun protection measures. Sunglasses and sunscreen cream can be useful.
Please take any leftover food or trash with you and do not leave them behind.
Please use designated toilets in mountainous areas.
The use of drones within the Alpine Route area is strictly prohibited.
