Our guide, Jack, was very enthusiastic and shared a lot of aurora knowledge with us. The other couple in our group were also very friendly! We were lucky enough to see a spectacular aurora display within 1-2 hours of arriving!
Despite the freezing temperatures, we were willing to brave the cold for the aurora borealis! Our tour guide told us there was a 90% chance of seeing the aurora that day, which thrilled everyone. Indeed, at the three locations he took us, we saw many streaks or patches of aurora. It was visible to the naked eye as green, but the colors appeared even richer when captured by an iPhone. It was definitely worth the trip, but make sure you're dressed warmly, as it felt like -40 degrees Celsius.
The Matanuska Glacier hike is definitely worthwhile. First, our guide, Mr. Ye, drives us about two hours from our hotel to the glacier, where we then transfer to a professional guide to lead the hike. It was snowing as we walked, but it wasn't cold, and everyone had a great time. The guide was very enthusiastic, professional, and excellent.
The aurora borealis was spectacular, absolutely stunning! Despite the freezing cold, our tour guide patiently took photos for everyone. We are so grateful to him for providing such a wonderful travel experience!
The aurora borealis is indeed a rare sight and there's no guarantee it will happen, but I was still lucky enough to see it. However, this little cabin didn't quite feel like a typical cabin.
I originally planned to book the tour independently, but I saw that KKDay offered a package deal for a similar price, so I booked it instead. Having a slightly larger budget definitely saved me a lot of trouble. They upgraded me to a Wetmark room, which was quite spacious. The driver also served as our guide, speaking fluent Chinese. Customer service responded quickly, and there were no major issues. Regarding the aurora viewing, the driver was very nice; if we couldn't see it, they would change our route. When we encountered the aurora along the way, they were willing to stop so we could take photos and even helped with the photography. The Chena Hot Springs were excellent. The glacier hike is highly recommended, but I personally found the dog sledding rather empty; if you've experienced it elsewhere, you might want to skip it.
