Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and took us to the Chena Hot Springs scenic area to visit the ice museum and soak in the hot springs. On the way back, he led us to chase the Northern Lights.
The driver (Chinese-speaking) stopped at a supermarket on the way there for restroom breaks or to buy food. The glacier guide (Chinese or English-speaking) will adjust the route based on your physical condition and the day's conditions. This time, we hiked for about 2.5 hours and 2.5km with stops along the way. You don't need to carry your backpack during the hike; just leave it in the vehicle. There are no stops for meals. The glacier is constantly changing, so the route will differ depending on the time of day. For clothing, be sure to dress warmly in winter. Bring a hat, face mask, gloves, and hand warmers, as the wind can be quite strong and can cause frostbite (crampons, warm jackets, and pants are provided on-site). Snow goggles or sunglasses are also a good choice—they look great in photos!
