Director Wan and the driver were both very responsible and nice. They patiently reminded us not to forget anything and kept us informed of the time, as traffic in Thailand is very congested. Missing an interchange can mean waiting up to 5 hours. Don't forget your belongings! The things sold at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market weren't great, but the boat ride experience was quite unique and rare in Taiwan. Maeklong was crowded with tourists from all over the world, and seeing the train up close was a novel experience, though it felt a bit like Donggang in Pingtung. Amphawa Cafe looked like a former royal resort hotel; it's a bit dated and located in a remote area, so the refrigeration equipment wasn't great, and the seafood wasn't very fresh. Drinks are a better option.
I visited the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market over 20 years ago. Back then, there were no motorboats, no throngs of tourists, and no air pollution from kerosene boats. Everything was so tranquil and beautiful, leaving a lasting impression. Now, that memory is long gone. Fortunately, our driver and guide, Mr. Nut, was incredibly dedicated. He not only recounted the history of the floating market and led us along the paths only locals use, but also pointed out where to find vendors offering reasonable prices. He also frequently took photos of the whole family, bringing everything back to life. Although Mr. Nut's car was a taxi, his fluent English, humor, and friendliness made him trustworthy and highly recommended. The Amphawa Floating Market was a fantastic experience. Even on Sunday, it wasn't as crowded as Damnoen Saduak. The rows of stilted houses along the river allowed us to experience the authentic lives of the locals. Many of the cafes, where you had to take off your shoes, were very chill. A walk along the river at sunset was the best part of the trip. The local environment is pristine, and fireflies are present year-round, though in varying numbers. Fireflies are less dense in mid-February, but almost every tree they inhabit still has fireflies. The boatmen will kindly stop to let everyone watch, and you'll see them on both sides. Some are so close that you might hit them if you wave your hand, making it a very unique tourist experience.
A huge thank you to our tour guide and driver for their company throughout the day! The guide was incredibly attentive, and the minivan was brand new and very comfortable! We had a private tour, and we were grateful for their hotel pick-up and drop-off service. We didn't encounter any traffic jams along the way, so we arrived at the Maeklong Railway Station on time to watch the trains arrive. The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market was a truly unique experience; our family of four had a blast on our private boat. At the Instagram-worthy cafe, the guide thoughtfully reserved seats and pre-ordered food for us, allowing us more time to relax and enjoy ourselves! Our guide, Mr. Wang, also took many family photos for us, creating wonderful memories! However, the Maeklong and Floating Markets are quite far from the Instagram-worthy cafe, almost an hour's drive. If we were to also visit the Thonburi Seafood Market, we risked traffic jams and extra charges on the return trip! Since we had already eaten lunch near the Floating Market, to avoid traffic congestion on the return journey, we asked the guide to cancel the Thonburi Seafood Market visit and keep the Instagram-worthy cafe itinerary. On the way back in the evening, we originally planned to go directly to the hotel, but we asked the driver to take us to the Jod Night Market. The tour guide was incredibly attentive and even taught us how to get back to the hotel after the tour! The local Chinese-speaking tour guide and driver provided excellent service. Travelers who are interested in joining this tour should be prepared for traffic jams on the way back if they want to visit all the attractions, otherwise they may be charged extra for exceeding the time limit!
The driver was fantastic!! He reminded me of important things at each location beforehand! And his driving was very stable!! A 100-point driver, a great experience, highly recommended!
