The day trip was fantastic, and I'm so grateful to our guide, Xiao Shu (Shu Yue), for being so thoughtful. She reminded everyone to be careful on slippery sections and guided us to designated points, giving us ample time to walk the entire ancient trail. She also recommended many local delicacies along the way, which were truly delicious. The tour bus ride with a guide was very comfortable. I highly recommend that anyone traveling to Nagoya, Japan, plan a day trip to explore the outlying suburbs. You don't need to buy tickets and take public transport separately; a day trip easily covers the Nakasendo Trail, Inuyama Castle, and the Ena Gorge observation deck. It was a wonderful experience! 👍
Unfortunately, it rained that day, but thankfully we were on a large tour bus, so the journey wasn't too frustrating. Inuyama Castle was very crowded, but the views were definitely worth it. Ena Gorge is viewed from a small observation deck, but the apples and peaches sold at the shops were really sweet, and you won't regret buying them. Although we only had two hours in Magome-juku, it felt a bit short including lunch time. Perhaps because of the rain, some shops were closed, so there weren't many places to visit, which was a bit of a shame. Tsumago-juku, however, was a different story. Although it was raining there too, I personally preferred the atmosphere. The view of the distant mountains and the strolling through the alleyways created a wonderful ambiance! Overall, it was a very good day trip!
The driver was friendly and polite, thoughtfully introducing each attraction, and taking you directly to the entrance of each stop instead of just dropping you off in a parking lot. The vehicle was large and comfortable. It was a great travel experience.
