  • What is Nikaibayashi?
  • This is the Ohayashi practice held on the second floor of townhouses in each Hikiyama town, starting from the night the Otsu Festival's lottery ceremony takes place. From evening until night, the sounds of gongs, drums, and flutes echo through the town from the townhouse windows. This practice venue is the inner side of the festival, usually off-limits to those not involved. On this tour, you will have the special opportunity to observe this practice scene.
  • Ohayashi (Gongs, Drums, Flutes)
  • Each Hikiyama float has different music and melodies, and each town inherits its own unique sound. On this tour, you will experience playing the gongs and drums and participate in an ensemble.
  • Rakusokai
  • The Ohayashi is taught by a group of volunteers from the 'Nagae-shu,' a support group for the Otsu Festival.
