Product Info

  • Itinerary: Otori Station ⇒ Otori Taisha Shrine Danjiri Festival → Taxi to Tsukuno area ⇒ Lunch in Tsukuno ⇒ Kadono Sarazome (approx. 1 hour) ⇒ Ise Tagane Mochi 5th Generation Yajirobei ⇒ Tsukuno Station ① Witness the magnificent Shinto ritual at Otori Taisha Shrine, the Ichinomiya (first-ranked shrine) of Izumi Province, which is said to be the last sacred place where Yamato Takeru, who appears in Japanese mythology, descended in the form of a white swan, as 10 danjiri floats gather. After visiting the shrine, we will travel to Tsukuno by taxi. ② Experience the world's only wazarashi (Japanese bleached cotton) snowflake tie-dyeing at Kadono Sarazome in Tsukuno, which has been in business since 1931. What is wazarashi? It is a traditional industry of Sakai that has continued since the Edo period, and is characterized by its soft and fluffy texture that becomes softer the more you wash it. ③ Shop for tagane mitarashi dango at Ise Tagane Mochi 5th Generation Yajirobei, which is very popular in Tsukuno. The tour will end at Tsukuno Station on the Hanwa Line around 2:30 PM.
  • Visiting Otori Grand Shrine
  • At Otori Taisha Shrine, one of the top two power spots in the Kansai region, you can enjoy the autumn Danjiri Festival and spend about an hour leisurely visiting the shrine grounds, including the main hall, inner shrine, and sacred trees. The shrine is characterized by its Otori-zukuri style architecture, which is said to be the second oldest after Izumo Taisha Shrine's Taisha-zukuri style. They also offer transparent amulets said to grant foresight and limited edition goshuin (shrine stamps) featuring seasonal motifs. Offering fee for the foresight amulet: ¥1500 Offering fee for the special limited edition goshuin: ¥1000
  • Experience tie-dyeing at Kakuno Sarazome
  • Choose from 6 different patterns and 6 different dye solutions for your wazarashi dyeing experience. ① Use an iron to weave a rectangular, pure white wazarashi into a triangle about 10 cm in diameter. ② Choose a pattern and dye solution and soak the fabric in the solution container for several seconds. It has a unique smell. ③ Workshop staff will rinse it with water (the color will not fade even if you rinse it immediately). ④ Use an iron to dry the dyed wazarashi, and it's finished. You will wear plastic gloves, so you don't have to worry about getting your hands dirty. You can take your dyed wazarashi home immediately. The process takes a little less than an hour.
