PICKUP INFORMATION

Our pick up window is from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

We can only provide a start time rather than an exact estimated time for when the transport will arrive at your accommodation or designated pick-up ares. Since we have multiple pickup locations—some nearby and others farther away—along with wait times for each guest, the exact pickup time may vary.

From 8:00 - 8:30 AM, we will pick you up at McDonalds Panglao or your accommodation within Panglao Island. Please be ready at the lobby, reception, or main road. Waiting time per stop is 5–10 mins. Times are estimates, and may extend until 8:45 AM based on season and/or no. of guests for the day.

If you're coming from Alona Beach Rd (Alona Vida Beach Resort, MGH Alona Resort, Hayahay Resort, Blue Ocean Bohol, Lost Horizon Dive Resort, etc), please proceed to McDonalds Panglao.

If your Panglao accommodation is on a narrow/rough road, we’ll give a main road pickup point.

From 8:30 - 9 AM, if you're not coming from Panglao Island, we will pick you up at Mario's Cafe (in-front of Caltex Gasoline Station Junction Bridge). Please wait outside of the coffee shop near the road. Waiting time per stop is 5–10 mins. Times are estimates, and may extend until 9:15 AM based on season and/or no. of guests for the day.

If you're coming from the Port of Tagbilaran, you may ride a TukTuk or Grab and asked to be dropped at the Caltex Gasoline Station in Dauis Junction Borja Bridge. Mario's Cafe is just in-front of the gasoline station. The fee should be around Php 50-100 per ride (max of 4 usually).

FAQ

1. What makes the Chocolate Hills a unique geological attraction in Bohol?

The Chocolate Hills are distinctive for their symmetrical, cone-shaped mounds, numbering over 1,268 hills spread across 50 square kilometers. During the dry season, the grass covering them turns chocolate brown, creating a striking landscape that resembles rows of chocolate kisses. Their unusual and uniform shape makes them a prime example of a karst topography, a natural wonder that attracts visitors globally.

2. What is the geological theory behind the formation of the Chocolate Hills?

The most widely accepted theory suggests the Chocolate Hills are uplifted coral deposits that have been eroded by rainwater and subterranean streams over millions of years. This process, combined with tectonic shifts, shaped the limestone into its distinct conical form. The underlying limestone bedrock, once part of an ancient seabed, contributed to this unique geological phenomenon.

3. Why are the famous hills in Bohol called the Chocolate Hills?

They are named "Chocolate Hills" because of their striking appearance during the dry season. The lush green grass that typically covers the hills dries up and turns a rich brown hue, resembling giant chocolate kisses or a landscape made of chocolate. This seasonal transformation is what gives them their iconic and memorable name.

4. During which season do the Chocolate Hills turn brown, and when are they green?

The Chocolate Hills typically turn brown during Bohol's dry season, which usually runs from late November to May. During these months, the verdant grass dries out under the intense sun, giving the hills their chocolate-like appearance. For the rest of the year, particularly during the rainy season (June to October), the hills are covered in lush green vegetation.

5. What is the recommended time of day to visit Chocolate Hills for the best viewing experience?

The best time to visit the Chocolate Hills for optimal viewing is usually early in the morning or late in the afternoon. During these times, the sunlight is softer, providing better conditions for photography and enhancing the contours and shadows of the hills. Midday sun can be harsh and make photography more challenging.

6. How can visitors responsibly observe the Philippine Tarsiers at their sanctuary?

At the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary, visitors are encouraged to observe tarsiers quietly and avoid sudden movements, loud noises, or touching them, as these nocturnal animals are easily stressed. Flash photography is strictly prohibited. Keeping a respectful distance helps protect their sensitive nature and ensures their well-being in their natural habitat.

7. What kind of activities or sights can be enjoyed during a Loboc River cruise?

A Loboc River cruise typically offers a serene journey along the emerald-green river, often accompanied by a floating restaurant serving local cuisine. Passengers can enjoy picturesque views of the lush tropical vegetation along the riverbanks, witness local life, and sometimes be serenaded by local musicians on board or by children performing cultural dances from the riverbanks.

8. What essential items should visitors bring for a day of exploring Bohol's attractions like Chocolate Hills and Tarsier Sanctuary?

For a day of exploring Bohol's attractions like the Chocolate Hills and Tarsier Sanctuary, essential items include comfortable walking shoes, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. A camera is also recommended to capture the scenic landscapes and unique wildlife.
