It's about a 20-minute drive from Kanazawa Station. Head east on Route 159, then turn towards Higashinagae IC from Narwa. Continue east on Route 210, turn right at Makimachi, go through the Tsurube Tunnel, and you'll arrive at the Tsurube Satoyama area. Experience "rice paddy dyeing," a local treasure passed down in the Tsurube settlement, where the legend of Kagekiyo remains. You'll dye your own original pattern using the tie-dyeing technique. The history of this rice paddy dyeing dates back to the Edo period, when it was recorded as "Kaga black dyeing." You'll harvest plants like Japanese red oak and Japanese lacquer tree that grow wild in Tsurube, and soak the cloth in the boiled dye solution for several tens of minutes. After that, you'll soak it in the rice paddy and knead it well... You can enjoy the sensation of dipping your hands and feet in the spring water and rice paddy. You can fold and tie the cloth with string, imagining your own pattern using the tie-dyeing technique, and you'll be very excited to see the finished product. A beautiful gray dyed item is completed. Then, take a stroll around the area and enjoy making discoveries. For lunch, we'll make rice balls with rice cooked in a pot and enjoy them while admiring nature! Light refreshments are provided. The artwork you create will be ready to take home that same day.
