- Activity Highlights -
Located in Pat Sin Leng Country Park in the northeastern New Territories of Hong Kong, Liu Shui Xiang is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty. The Liu Shui Xiang Reservoir here is known as the "Hong Kong version of Karuizawa." Its calm surface is like a mirror, reflecting the surrounding bald cypress and paperbark trees, creating a magnificent "Sky Mirror" scene.
The fireflies of Shaluo Cave are a natural wonder, attracting crowds of tourists every summer. Fireflies (scientific name: Lampyridae) are insects that can emit light. This light is called bioluminescence, produced by the reaction of luciferin with oxygen in their bodies. Their primary function is to attract mates and warn predators.
Sha Lo Tung's wetland environment provides an ideal habitat for fireflies, making it a popular spot for firefly viewing in Hong Kong. Fireflies typically flash between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM, making this the best time to view them.
