  • Shirakawa-go and Gassho-zoo Shirakawa-go are located in the northwest of Gifu Prefecture and are surrounded by steep mountains. 96% of the village is forested and only 0.4% of the farmland is a typical mountain village. In December 1995, it was named "Shirakawa-go. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in the name of Gokayama Gassho Village.
    Shirakawa-go Gassho Village is a village where you can enjoy different beautiful scenery all year round. It is most famous for its light-up event held between January and February every winter. Thick white snow piles on the thatched roof, and when lit up at night, it feels like being in a fairy tale scene, presenting a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere as if time has stood still. It only takes about an hour from Takayama to take the Nohi Highway Bus to Shirakawa-go. Don’t miss it to experience the dreamy light-up tour of winter-limited scenery!

  • Ogimachi Castle Ruins Observation Deck Ogimachi Castle was built on a cliff in the northwest. It is a typical medieval mountain castle.
    Looking down at Ogimachi Gassho Village from this observatory, the vast scenery that greets you is particularly beautiful. It is the best location for tourists who love photography.

    In the Gassho-zukuri Garden, the traditional cultural landscape created by the Japanese who coexisted harmoniously with nature in ancient times is preserved and displayed to the public, allowing visitors to experience the life scenes of the past.
    Including 9 Gifu Prefecture Important Cultural Properties, there are a total of 25 gassho-zukuri buildings in the park, and the watermill hut, shrine, temple main hall, etc. were relocated here as they were.

(One-way trip: about 20 minutes) You can find "*Shuttle bus service for people with physical or mental disabilities or tourists with difficulty walking" on the official website of the Shirakawa-go Tourist Association. If you wish to take this shuttle bus, please make a reservation at the Shirakawa-go Tourist Association.

  • In order to ensure the safety of all visitors, the number of people admitted to the observatory will be limited, so please understand.

  • Arrival time at Shirakawa-go may be delayed due to snow or traffic jams. In this case, the tour time will be shortened, please forgive me.
