A popular activity during the Japanese summer, kawatoko (literally meaning "river bed") dining allows guests to sit on an elevated platform next to the river and take in the sights and sounds of the rushing water to wash away the heat. Gyunabe Ukon is the first and only kawabe-style restaurant in Hakone. The maple forests along the Sukumo River turn into a gorgeous red and yellow scene in autumn. The cool autumn weather also provides guests with Ukon's cotton-padded jackets. Sitting under the fireplace is the best time to enjoy Ukon's famous hot pot. The restaurant sources its Kuroge Wagyu beef from all over Japan and pairs it with vegetables grown locally in Kanagawa Prefecture. Yams are grown on their own farm outside Odawara City and are particularly famous for their aroma and taste. In addition, our restaurant pays special attention to the cooking concept of taste. The boiled hot pot soup base incorporates yam and eggs, adding texture and layers. Meat sushi made with premium ingredients such as sea urchin, caviar and salmon roe is topped with homemade foamy soy sauce (awa-shoyu), a delicious combination of foamy soy sauce and meringue that is Ukon's pride and perfection.

- Please arrive at the restaurant early. If your trip is delayed, please call us. If you arrive 30 minutes after the scheduled time, your reservation will be cancelled or some meals may not be available.
