- Trip Overview -
・ Taroko Arch Gate (Stop for sightseeing)
The Taroko Arch Gate, also known as the 'East-West Cross-Island Highway Arch Gate', stands at an elevation of 60 meters. With the development of tourism, it has become a world-famous landmark and an iconic symbol of Hualien across different eras, serving as a popular spot for travelers to take photos.
・Changchun Shrine (Sightseeing from the vehicle)
Changchun Shrine honors the 225 workers who lost their lives during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway. The Tang-style architecture is embedded into the cliffside, with fresh spring water cascading down to form a waterfall, resembling a beautiful landscape painting. A staircase carved into the cliff behind the shrine leads to the Guanyin Cave, Taroko Tower, Bell Tower, and a suspension bridge that connects to Changuang Temple, commonly known as the 'Heavenly Trail'.
・Swallow Grotto (Stop for sightseeing)
Swallow Grotto and the Tunnel of Nine Turns are the most breathtaking natural wonders of Taroko Gorge and its narrowest sections. A pedestrian path is available along the creek for visitors to enjoy the scenery. On the marble cliffs opposite Swallow Grotto, many small holes can be seen. During spring and summer, swifts and swallows often fly and chirp between the cliffs or nest in these holes, hence the name 'Swallow Grotto'.
・Tianxiang (Stop for sightseeing)
Tianxiang is the heart of Taroko Gorge and serves as a hub for accommodation, dining, and various services. Originally named 'Tabito', it was renamed Tianxiang in memory of Wen Tianxiang.
Every winter, the plum blossoms in the plum garden bloom, creating a sea of white flowers that stretches from the highway, parking lot, and memorial park to Xiangde Temple, making it one of the most popular scenic spots in Taiwan.
・Qixingtan Beach (Stop for sightseeing)
Located on the coast in the northeast corner of Xincheng Township, Qixingtan is famous for its mesmerizing crescent-shaped bay, crystal-clear blue water, and visible pebbles in the surf. Originally a quiet fishing village, its unique natural environment, combined with simple walking paths, seaside pavilions, moon-watching towers, and stargazing plazas, allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the blue sea and sky. The beach, free from light pollution at night, is the best choice for stargazing, moon-watching, or simply listening to the song of the pebbles and the waves.
