Product Info

Discover the story of the Solidarity movement and the fall of communism in Poland during a private guided tour of the European Solidarity Centre. This modern, interactive museum presents the history of post‑war Poland, the rise of opposition movements, and the events that led to democratic change in 1989.

Begin outside at Solidarity Square, where the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers commemorates the victims of the 1970 protests. Walk through Gate No. 2 of the Gdańsk Shipyard, an iconic symbol of the August 1980 strikes.

Inside the European Solidarity Centre, follow the exhibition chronologically — from life under communist rule and the December 1970 protests to the formation of the Inter‑Enterprise Strike Committee, the signing of the August Agreements, the introduction of martial law, and the Round Table Talks that paved the way for free elections.

See original shipyard artefacts, archival films, photographs, and the UNESCO‑listed 21 Demands. Your guide will explain the key figures, events and ideas that shaped the movement and influenced democratic transitions across Central and Eastern Europe.

The tour ends at the rooftop viewpoint (weather permitting), offering panoramic views of the shipyard and Gdańsk’s Old Town.
