Day 1: Tunis / Sousse / Hammamet – El Jem – Matmata – Dunes Insolites Desert Camp
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Tunis, Sousse, or Hammamet. Travel south to the magnificent El Jem Amphitheatre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's largest Roman arenas. Continue to Matmata, famous for its underground Berber cave dwellings and Star Wars filming locations. Visit a traditional troglodyte home and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, continue to Dunes Insolites Desert Camp, located on the edge of the Grand Erg Oriental, one of the largest seas of sand in the Sahara. Check into your private Bedouin tent and enjoy optional activities (extra charge), including a camel ride, quad biking, 4x4 desert safari, or sandboarding.
As the sun sets, relax with traditional Saharan mint tea, watch a Mella (sand bread) demonstration, enjoy a traditional dinner with folkloric entertainment, and spend the night under the stars at the desert camp.
Day 2: Grand Erg Oriental – Nomadic Desert Bivouac
After breakfast, enjoy a free morning at the camp or take part in optional desert activities. Lunch is served before departing for a true Sahara adventure.
Travel deep into the Grand Erg Oriental by camel caravan, on foot, or by 4x4 with experienced local guides. Reach a remote bivouac in the heart of the dunes, help set up the nomadic camp, and witness an unforgettable Sahara sunset.
Enjoy a traditional dinner cooked over a wood fire before spending the evening around the campfire beneath an incredible star-filled sky. Overnight in a nomadic tent or directly under the stars.
Day 3: Chott El Jerid – Chebika – Kairouan – Return
Wake up to a breathtaking Sahara sunrise and enjoy breakfast before returning to the camp for a shower.
Cross the spectacular Chott El Jerid, North Africa's largest salt lake, famous for its mirages and endless white landscapes. Continue to the mountain oasis of Chebika, where waterfalls, palm groves, dramatic canyons, and abandoned Berber villages create one of Tunisia's most beautiful natural sites.
After lunch, visit Kairouan, one of Islam's holiest cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its historic medina and admire the Great Mosque before returning to Tunis, Sousse, or Hammamet in the evening.
