Day 1 — Into the Wild
The city falls away fast. A fifty-minute flight north from Accra, and you land in Tamale — the gateway to a Ghana most visitors never see. Your Uprise guide is waiting at the airport with a smile, and after a quick breakfast at a local bakery, you're on the road: two hours through changing landscape, the city giving way slowly to open savannah, until Mole National Park rises up around you.
Settle into your room, and then — the real reason you came. Your first driving safari takes you deep into the park as the light softens toward evening, tracking whatever the bush reveals: elephants moving through the trees, baboons watching from the roadside, antelope and hartebeest grazing in the open. There's no script for what you'll see out here — that's exactly the point.
By the time dinner arrives, you'll understand why people come back to Mole again and again. (All meals included today.)
Overnight: Mole Safari Resort (Standard) / Zaina Lodge (Premium)
Single occupancy: $2,499 per person · Double occupancy (2–3 travelers): $2,079 per person
Day 2 — On Foot, Among Giants
Before the sun is fully up, you're already moving — this time on foot, walking into Mole's savannah with an armed park ranger at your side and the whole park waking up around you. This is the safari people talk about for years: no vehicle between you and the wild, just quiet footsteps, the ranger's practiced eye, and the chance that an elephant might appear just ahead on the trail. Watch closely near the waterholes — crocodiles sometimes surface right where you least expect them.
Two hours later, breakfast waits back at the lodge, well earned.
The afternoon shifts pace entirely: a peaceful canoe safari along the Mole River, gliding into corners of the park no vehicle can reach. From there, you'll visit Mognori village, where daily life in Northern Ghana unfolds in front of you — women weaving, shea butter being made by hand, generations of tradition still very much alive. If the timing is right, you may even shake hands with the village chief himself. (All meals included today.)
Overnight: Mole Safari Resort (Standard) / Zaina Lodge (Premium) — see pricing above
Day 3 — One Last Look, and the Road Home
One final walking safari before you go — a last chance to stand still in the bush and take in what you've spent two days falling for. Say your goodbyes to the elephants, and begin the road back toward Tamale.
On the way, a stop that puts the whole trip in perspective: Larabanga Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in West Africa and the oldest in all of Ghana. Built in the 15th century, it's often called the "Mecca of West Africa" — a place where history feels close enough to touch.
Back in Tamale, there's time to browse the Tamale Cultural Center for a few last souvenirs before your flight south. (Breakfast and lunch included today.)
Evening: Return flight to Accra — and a Ghana you'll carry with you long after you land.
