Explore the highest point of Cerro Frías on an unforgettable trek. Every step is an immersion in the history, nature, and grandeur of the Patagonian steppe. The adventure kicks off in the historic center of the estancia. From there, we'll start the hike to the Refugio Leñador, a place full of memories. Back in the early 1900s, workers gathered firewood here to survive the harshest winters. The trail enters an imposing lenga forest, where the calm of the surroundings contrasts with the challenge of the ascent. After an hour and a half of demanding hiking, the landscape opens up in all its magnitude: in front of you, a natural spectacle unique in the world unfolds. The Cordón de los Cristales, the Centinela River valley, the Torres del Paine in the distance, and, weather permitting, the unmistakable silhouette of Fitz Roy dominating the horizon. At your feet, Lake Argentino and the Andes Mountains complete a 360° view that will make you feel like you're on top of the world.
The return reveals new trails and hidden corners of the hill. We'll stop at historic shelters to recharge with a Patagonian lunch, enjoying the stillness and vastness of the landscape.
