【Nanputuo Temple】Nanputuo Temple was first built in the Tang Dynasty. Named Nanputuo because it is located south of Mount Putuo in Zhejiang Province, it is the sacred site of Guanyin (Avalokitesvara). The buildings, constructed against the mountain, create a solemn and majestic atmosphere with layers rising upwards. The Taixu Library and Buddhist Academy within the temple are also unique in their own way. Today, as the oldest temple in southern Fujian, its incense has been burning for over a thousand years, reaching overseas audiences.

Gulangyu Island, a garden by the sea and the most beautiful of the five major urban districts, was once known as the "Piano Island of the Sea." At its peak, the sounds of pianos could be heard emanating from almost every house as one strolled along its lanes. This small island in the southwest corner of Xiamen is embraced by the sea, with its sandy beaches, shady trees, and tranquil alleyways. Every detail is captivating, inviting you to capture it with your camera. Whether you're a portrait enthusiast or an architect, Gulangyu offers a perfect experience. This World Heritage island, covering less than 20,000 square kilometers, is a vast museum of architectural history, filled with well-preserved buildings of diverse styles and historical significance. It boasts 51 representative historical buildings and residences, 4 historical roads, 7 representative natural landscapes, and 2 cultural relics. When you set foot on this island, you'll find Gulangyu embraced by lush greenery, surrounded by fresh air. The breathtaking scenery unfolds before your eyes, prompting you to capture it frame by frame – perhaps this is the true charm of Gulangyu. Gulangyu Island is brimming with photo opportunities: an unnamed alleyway, an old villa long since deserted, an ancient banyan tree that has witnessed the passage of time, a roadside flower in full bloom, a relic weathered by history… every snapshot captures a story-filled journey. In Xiamen, this island, where even the air seems to hold tales, is undoubtedly the best place for photography.
The "Union Church" is a popular location for wedding photos. In the mid-19th century, many Westerners left Europe and America and traveled across the ocean to work and live on Gulangyu Island. Many of these foreigners were devout Christians, and they decided to build a church on Gulangyu to hold Sunday worship services. Members of various missions (the American Reformed Church, the London Missionary Society, and the Presbyterian Church of England) donated funds to build the church on Deer Reef (also known as Upper Deer Reef) on Gulangyu. In 1863, this neoclassical church was completed and was then called the "International Church." This was the earliest church on Gulangyu.
The "World Consulate Architecture Exhibition" is a favorite route for photographers, and missing it might be a regrettable experience. Besides immersing yourself in the sounds of music on Gulangyu Island, you'll also see two of the island's most famous religious buildings: a Greek-style Christian church and a Catholic church with Gothic Romanesque features, as well as three renowned consulates, all offering a unique visual experience.
