If you fancy a trip out to the beach, then you may as well make it one of Europe's best. Lefkada is home to Porto Katsiki beach – a slice of soft white sand tucked beneath a cliff, and fringed by turquoise water. You'll have return transfer from your hotel all sorted, so all you'll need is your bathing gear and sun cream. Then stretch out your towel for three hours of bliss.

Whether your idea of fun is playing games, catching rays, burying your nose in a good book or splashing about in the water, you'll have plenty of free time before your transfer back in the early afternoon. You'll also be able to stock up on drinks and snacks before your head down to the beach.
