A place of calm beaches, crystalline waters and indescribable beauty, the Berlengas Archipelago is perfect for an excursion departing from Peniche.

Located approximately 11km away from Cabo Carvoeiro, in Peniche, the archipelago is made up of three groups of islands: Berlenga Grande, Estelas and Farilhões-Forcadas. The archipelago is also considered part of UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

The boat will take you from Peniche to Berlengas, where you can enjoy and explore the island on your own. Look out towards the blue waters from the beach. Stroll up to the lighthouse and imagine yourself alone. Then understand more of Portugal's history by examining the remains of Forte S. Joao Batista and walk the Island's trails.

  • The trip will be done on a catamaran, zodiak or desportive yacht. Between April and October the first boat that will go it's a catamaran (min 30 people) and after the others ones. Between November and March, if will be less that 30 people, the boats will be the zodiak or desportive yacht

  • You'll need to present a valid ID or a copy of your passport

  • The trip always depends on the sea conditions and the minimum number of people

  • You will have around 3 to 4 hours to discover the archipelago before boarding back to the starting point, or 2 hours to 2.5 hours during the winter months (October to February/March)

  • If the group includes multiple languages, the guide will speak first in Portuguese, then in English, and lastly in Spanish

  • The restaurant and the castle are not open all the year, so it's important to bring some sun cream, water and snacks during the winter months

  • Feel free to bring your own snacks, or some extra cash with you to buy them on the Island during the months of May through September

  • It's recommended to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for the season, sport shoes and to bring a jumper or a cardigan

  • Bring a bathing suit and slippers in your backpack in case you want to go for a swim
