Product Info

-What you can expect-
The medieval Sinagoga Mayor of Barcelona, which had been hidden for centuries, was found again in 1987 thanks to the work of historian Jaume Riera y Sans. This old synagogue is in the centre of the old Jewish quarter of the city, which is known as the Call Mayor. This area used to be between the streets of l'Arc de Sant Ramon, Call, Bisbe and Sant Sever.

As you explore this historic site, you'll learn about the growth of the Jewish community in the 13th century, which led to the development of a second area, the Call Menor, near the present-day Church of Sant Jaume. The synagogue itself was built on foundations dating back to Roman times, offering a glimpse into Barcelona's long history.

This important piece of Barcelona's past has been restored and made accessible to visitors, allowing you to step back in time and learn about the city's diverse heritage. The site offers a special chance to learn about the history of Barcelona's Jewish community and its role in medieval Spain.
