Explore ARTIS Amsterdam Zoo located 10 minutes from city centre, directly on one of the canals. Visit the elephant calves playing outside, historic monuments, and beautiful flower gardens. Imagine yourself in Madagascar at the renovated Kerbertterras (former lion enclosure) and admire how the ring-tailed lemurs, ruffed ruffs, and Madagascar radiated tortoises live together here.

Take a trip through space inside the Planetarium (admission included). Feel the fluttering of countless wings in the Butterfly Pavilion. Admire the botanical garden and take a restful break at one of our vegetarian restaurants.

Visit the world's only microbe museum in the heart of Amsterdam. At ARTIS-Micropia a hidden world becomes visible. A world full of life, so small you cannot see it with the naked eye. Yet without microbes there would be no life on Earth. They are everywhere, in the air, on your skin and in your gut. They make food taste good, keep you healthy and maintain balance in nature. At Micropia this invisible world comes to life through living microbes, microscopes, interactive displays and stories from the lab technicians.

  • During the holidays, adjusted opening hours apply to both locations: 24, 25, 26 December 9 am - 5 pm, 31 December 9 am - 4 pm, 1 January 10 am - 5 pm
