Product Info

Experience the spectacular Kumano Grand Fireworks Festival with approximately 10,000 fireworks

Paid Seating Available: Enjoy the fireworks from a premium paid viewing area! (Please note: These are ground seating spots using blue tarps for up to 4 people, not chair seating).
A Historic Event: Boasting over 300 years of history, the Kumano Fireworks Festival is one of Japan's premier fireworks events, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to witness a massive showcase of roughly 10,000 fireworks.
The 3 Major Highlights:

Marine Explosions: A thrilling spectacle where fireworks are launched directly into the water from a boat speeding at full throttle, blooming into massive semicircles over the ocean.
The 250kg Three-Sanjaku Shell: An enormous 250kg firework shell detonates on the water, painting the sea with an overwhelming, giant burst spanning 600 meters in diameter.
Onigajo Grand Display: Utilizing the rocky cliffs and caves of "Onigajo"—a designated national scenic spot and natural monument—this jaw-dropping finale unleashes blasts and roars so powerful they mimic the sensation of a magnitude 7 earthquake.

Visit the sacred Kumano region, known as the origin of Japan’s pilgrimage culture
Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine

One of the three sacred Kumano shrines, known for its striking vermilion-colored shrine buildings.
Within the shrine grounds stands the sacred “Nagi Tree,” a nationally designated natural monument said to be over 1,000 years old.

Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine / Seiganto-ji Temple

See Japan’s largest omikuji fortune slip and lucky charms featuring the Yatagarasu, the three-legged crow symbol also used in the logo of the Japan Football Association.
The plaza at Seiganto-ji is also a famous photo spot where you can capture both the three-story pagoda and Nachi Falls in one breathtaking view.

The “Kumano Sanzan” refers collectively to three shrines and one temple: Kumano Hayatama Taisha in Shingu City, Kumano Hongu Taisha in Tanabe City, and Kumano Nachi Taisha together with Seiganto-ji Temple in Nachikatsuura Town. This tour does not visit Kumano Hongu Taisha.
World Heritage Site: Nachi Falls / Hiro Shrine

At 133 meters tall, Nachi Falls is Japan’s tallest single-drop waterfall and one of the country’s three most famous waterfalls.
The waterfall is worshipped as the sacred object of Hiro Shrine, an auxiliary shrine of Kumano Nachi Taisha.

World Heritage Site: Kumano Kodo Daimonzaka

Walk along the historic Kumano Kodo Daimonzaka trail, the entrance to the UNESCO World Heritage zone, lined with towering cedar trees, including the famous 800-year-old “Meoto Cedar Trees.”
Enjoy a scenic walking experience through the spiritual atmosphere and rich nature of Kumano.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes, as Daimonzaka includes approximately 15 minutes of uphill walking on stone-paved paths and stairs. Guests who do not wish to participate may travel by bus instead.
Relax with a short break at Wakaya Honten after visiting Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine

Enjoy a complimentary serving of the popular “Otaki Mochi” rice cake and tea during the tour! You’ll also have free time to shop for local souvenirs.
Meal contents may change depending on ingredient availability.

Stay overnight at Hotel Urashima in Nanki Katsuura Onsen

Famous for the spectacular “Bokido” cave hot spring, naturally formed inside a seaside cavern created by uplifted coastal rock formations
Enjoy visiting five different hot spring baths throughout the hotel, each with its own unique atmosphere
Relax in natural open-air hot springs overlooking the Pacific Ocean
Breakfast buffet featuring local specialties made with regional ingredients
Complimentary light alcoholic drinks, including draft beer and sparkling wine, are also available at the breakfast buffet
